Most publishers have made content related to the Corona Virus/COVID-19 available for everyone. The Swiss National Science Foundation and swissuniversities have appealed to publishers to open access to scientific publications: "Remove paywalls on scientific publications!"

- Oxford University Press: all e-books in biology, chemistry, mathematics, neuroscience, physics (additional to economics, finance, history, linguistics). Until further notice.
Resources across all subject areas where access has been made freely available, and which are not licensed by the University of Basel (selected resources)
- JSTOR: expanded access to previously not licensed e-journals until 30.6.2021.
The University Library endeavours, whenever possible, to expand the available e-book collection and is happy to receive acquisition requests.
