J. Burckhardt image collection
Burckhardt’s image collection, which is located in the Manuscript Department of the University Library (Part B as deposit from the Kunstmuseum Basel), comprises approximately 10 000 photographs and a larger number of other reproduction formats (sketches, etchings, pages from works with images, etc.). The structure that was passed on (123 files organised by artist or place in three call numbers) was retained. It is possible to page through the files virtually. All photographs have been digitised and the other material is recorded in detail.
