Copy Centre

In the public Copy Centre at the University Main Library, numerous high-capacity self-service devices for copying, printing and scanning are available. In addition, books can be scanned on specially developed book scanners with overhead lighting that protect the books during the scanning process. The data can be stored on a USB device. When scanning a smaller number of pages, these can be sent via «Scan to E-Mail».

Digitisation Centre

The Digitisation Centre of the University Library Basel digitises mediaeval manuscripts, printed works, music material, photographs, images and objects using professional scanners and cameras. The focus is always on ensuring that the original items are reproduced with great care and in accordance with the latest standards.

Many original items in the University Library have already been digitised and are available on the following platforms:

Digitisation Centre

Apart from systematic digitisation for the development and growth of the digital collection and digitisation with the aim of securing the preservation of the cultural heritage, the University Library also digitises items for partner libraries and research projects. On demand, up to 2000 pages can be digitised via the automated EOD order process from the catalogue, or ordered on site in the special reading room. For external requests and orders from institutions and private individuals, we are happy to provide advice and to fulfil requests.
